Urban Sync were engaged to assist Gilligan’s Backpackers Resort to update their approval package rectifying minor non-compliance matters dating back over 10 years. The development activities which were present on the land were set across 4 approvals and ultimately did not reflect the efficient use of the accommodation which is an important contributor to the local economy.

We co-ordinated the negotiations with Council’s approvals department to upgrade the approvals package that would allow for the extension of the use and improvements to the density arrangements associated with the Hotel.

The matter required a thorough knowledge of various past approvals and infrastructure policies to reach an agreed settlement. Urban Sync were instrumental in delivering planning advice in respect of the approval history, compliance and approach to finalising the outcome.
